Can you believe 2021 is nearly behind us? While we have been fortunate to continue classes and music business for the majority of the year, like for most, 2021 has still posed challenges due to the pandemic. I am always grateful for your continued loyalty and of course disappointed I couldn't offer an end of year celebration again, for this year. As mentioned in last Dec newsletter, I book venues and confirm details in September and there was still uncertainty, fear of snap lockdowns etc that didn't help make the stars align. So many industries have 'copped' a blow which of course has caused a domino effect for arts industries and alike, for example the music industry in general. On a positive note, 2021 has seen small businesses 'band' together and come up with fantastic dual initiatives for the local community. I'm really excited about the future of this moving into 2022 as I continue to work with like-minded organisations. For all those old school marketing peeps out there (that's me lol).. this is a testament that relationship marketing is still, in my opinion, the best marketing practice of all. Hi Everyone! Oh my goodness it is so nice to send a newsletter out with good news... what a wild couple of months. We are so fortunate to have minimal restrictions in Queensland at present (everyone cross fingers and toes). Thank you for supporting our local hall and community centre classes. These classes continue during the school holidays for the adults. Speaking of school holidays, I am thrilled to be working for Brisbane City Council and Moreton Bay Regional Council once again to deliver some free holiday programmes for the little ones. With this beautiful Spring weather upon us, it makes for a perfect morning or afternoon outing amongst our local, great outdoors.

Can I Get a 'whoop whoop' for our Zumba Gold crew on Wednesday mornings at O'Callaghan park, Zillmere. This class has grown so much that I think we need to ask Brisbane City Council to build us another basketball court! Huge thanks to all who attend this class. Reminder these classes take a break during the school holidays.

Hi All! So 2021 nearly half done.. can you believe it! It's getting chilly out there and hard to get going during these cold winter mornings and darker evenings but boy it feels good to move, especially in weather like this. I'm not a great fan of the heat so for me it's a nice change.
What's your preferred season to exercise?
I've been busy this pass month with camps and special events, of course always being grateful that some of these have resumed during current challenging times.
School holidays are just about here so I will be out and about in local parks representing Brisbane City Council and Moreton Bay Regional Council with their fantastic free initiatives to help keep kids moving during the break. These sessions are also a great way for parents and carers to grab a coffee and catch up in the fresh air of our local surrounds. There really are some beautiful parks just on our doorstep.

I'm thrilled that more Zumba Gold classes are being added to my schedule ... this really is a fantastic programme for those either new to Zumba, recovering from injury or seeking a slightly lower intensity. Having said all that, we still have great fun and sweat! Below is July scheduled classes where you will also see a new Friday lunchtime addition at Zillmere PCYC.

Can you believe that pretty much a year ago on the date this newsletter drops, everything stopped? What a journey we have all been on and while procedures and precautions are of course still in place, we are so lucky to be hosting live classes safely and enjoying each other's company.
As always, thank you for your loyalty and patience as we navigate through the new normal.

No more digging holes is the park and falling in them for Bud anymore mmmmmmmmm.  |

As we continue classes within a COVID safe environment, I will be trialling a QR Code sign in. Electronic record keeping is being rolled out in the hospitality industry etc so I'm sure in time, this will be the preferred method amongst most industries. In fact, local councils have already stated that this is their preferred method for holiday classes and beyond. I will have the QR code printed for scan/capture from your phone at point of entry. Of course, our paper sign in sheet will still be available as a backup during the transition and a huge thanks to Miss Gena for her beautiful pens last year. In addition, I sincerely thank you for your patience with these new systems and procedures that of course are always evolving as we respond to government guidelines.

As you are all aware, I have kept the Casual class fee of $10 for many years.
Due to rising costs, I have had to incur a small price increase for classes, moving forward. Effective Feb 1, Casual class fee will be $12 and 10 visit pass will only rise to $85 (you will note these passes were originally printed as $90).
I have tried to make this increase as 'pain free' as possible and of course and absolutely, current 10 visit passes will be honoured and valid.
So the message here is, January is the best time ever to purchase a 10-visit pass while they are still only $80. Thank you so much for your understanding on this.

Well 2020 is nearly behind us and I don't know about you, but I can't wait to kick off 2021 with a
fresh and focused perspective.
Sadly, we couldn't have our 'End of Year Celebration' this year due to COVID-19 restraints and the fact that I book our venues months in advance to secure a very special experience. This booking procedure was not possible this year to uncertainties at the time. Hopefully, if things continue to progress safely for Queensland in 2021, we will have so much to celebrate and be thankful for at our 'End of Year Celebration 2021'. (I'm excited already lol)
I would like to take this opportunity to thank you all for your tremendous assistance in adhering to COVID-19 safe practices. We all know this is the 'new normal' but I am so grateful that we have been able to exercise safely since July thanks to everyone's contribution. Our local hall classes remain unchanged for 2021 ie:
Bracken Ridge SS, Brighton SS and Fitzgibbon Community Centre..... AWWWYEAHH!
On a personal note, I have had to re-evaluate some other classes I teach mainly due to the effects of COVID-19 to local businesses. However on a positive note, I have been offered new opportunities for 2021.
These include; more classes through Brisbane City Council's 'Active and Healthy' programmes, Moreton Bay Regional Council's 'Active Holiday's' programmes, Kedron Wavell Services Club K-Fit programme and more...

I am writing this Blog while looking at our beautiful pics from Christmas parties in the past. What a year this has been so far. I'm sure everyone has mixed feelings about where the world is at today. While I am so excited about welcoming everyone back to our local hall classes, I am equally cautious while navigating the new normal.
Local hall classes commence from the 15 July. We can't wait to see all our regulars again and of course welcome new participants to our 'Energetic Music family'.
Thank you so much for supporting my small business during this difficult time.
I have liaised with all venues at length. They too are keen to get our local community businesses back with the following guidelines to be adhered to, in accordance with
Stage 3 COVID-19 restrictions.
. Please do not attend class if you are feeling unwell or have COVID-19 symptoms,
.have been in close contact with a known case of COVID-19
. have travelled overseas in the previous 14 days
. have been to a declared COVID-19 hotspot in the previous 14 days.
. The maximum number of participants allowed in an indoor venue is 1 person per 4sqm. (even though our venues are generous in size, we can not 'assume' numbers). Therefore, please book in for classes by calling or messaging me: 0418 855 946 or by sending me a private message via the business facebook page or email: [email protected]
Wed night attendees can also message Julz if that is easier for you.
. We are required to keep a record of all attendee contact details at every class.
This document will look different to our previous attendance sheet. Please feel free to bring your own pen.
.Hand sanitiser will be available at all times on sign in desk in order for everyone to maintain good hygiene practices.
.Please maintain physical distancing of 1.5m
You will notice that some routines will be omitted from our playlists where in the past we had physical contact. Julz and I will also need to modify some routines in order to adhere to social distancing requirements.
.No hugging , hand shaking etc
I know this is a hard one particularly since we are such a tight knit community... so sorry
.Please bring your own towel, water bottle and mat (where applicable)
I will be sanitising equipment before and after class thoroughly (this is in reference to Fitzgibbon) however I encourage all to wipe down the equipment also by using the disinfectant wipes provided).
.Toilets - we have access to at all our venues however please ensure toilets are flushed properly and the area is kept clean. In regard to Fitzgibbon, we have our own toilet key.
.Eftpos or direct transfer is encouraged for all classes (Eftpos now also available at Bracken Ridge SS) Now more the ever, the option of a 10 visit pass is really worth consideration. Casual class $10 and 10 visit pass $80 BARGAIN!

.Hand sanitiser will be available at all times on sign in desk in order for everyone to maintain good hygiene practices.
.Please maintain physical distancing of 1.5m
You will notice that some routines will be omitted from our playlists where in the past we had physical contact. Julz and I will also need to modify some routines in order to adhere to social distancing requirements.
.No hugging , hand shaking etc
I know this is a hard one particularly since we are such a tight knit community... so sorry
.Please bring your own towel, water bottle and mat (where applicable)
I will be sanitising equipment before and after class thoroughly (this is in reference to Fitzgibbon) however I encourage all to wipe down the equipment also by using the disinfectant wipes provided).
.Toilets - we have access to at all our venues however please ensure toilets are flushed properly and the area is kept clean. In regard to Fitzgibbon, we have our own toilet key.
.Eftpos or direct transfer is encouraged for all classes (Eftpos now also available at Bracken Ridge SS) Now more the ever, the option of a 10 visit pass is really worth consideration. Casual class $10 and 10 visit pass $80 BARGAIN!
Virtual Classes:
Huge thanks to those who participated in our virtual classes. I would also like to personally thank Julz for her tremendous input with these. Technology has been wonderful during this period but let's be honest, sometimes 'challenges' do happen when navigating a new way of doing things.
That being said, I am keen to offer some more virtual classes moving forward but of course I would have to start charging a fee for these.
I would love your input as to what type of class you would like offered.. ie Zumba Gold/Gold Toning/Kids/etc please feel free to contact me on the topic and a big lovely shout out to those who have messaged me already with their 'wish lists'.

I truly hope everyone is healthy and safe and hopefully starting to feel a little more hopeful about the future.
If there is one positive I can take from this experience, that is how the government has put an emphasis on the value of physical activity during lockdown and allowing people to get outside within the social distancing guidelines. I have never seen so many families riding bikes, walking the dogs and getting some fresh air, just wonderful.
A great acknowledgment of how exercise improves mental health and aids immunity and community.
There is a great anticipation about stage 2 of things starting to re-open around mid June.
I must say that while I'm very excited about the possibility of re-commencing live classes within a capped capacity,
I will be very cautious as to the exact date as I have a couple of things to consider,
These are: Adhering to government guidelines, Your safety, working within the guidelines of the venues I hire, working within the guidelines of the organisations I am a contractor for.
Please be patient with me on this one so the best outcome can be had for all.
On a positive note, I can't wait to share some new choreography with you as well as re-visiting 'our old favourites'.
In reality though, we all know that it will be quite a while until things truly come back to the 'way they were'.
And when they do, I can feel a massive party class coming your way.
As I've mentioned in Facebook posts etc, always feel free to 'reach out'. You all know I love a good chat and nothing is stopping us picking up the phone and 'checking in'. I've had some wonderful conversations and correspondence with a number of you during this period which I will always treasure.
Big thanks to those who have managed to 'tune in' to our ZIN Studio scheduled classes.
Julz and I have had a lot of fun delivering these to you and will continue to upload content as regularly as we can.

Have you ever thought of learning a musical instrument?
Most of you are aware that the other side of my business is selling musical instruments, print music and accessories, both new and used. Our showroom is still 'open for business' via appointment and don't forget as well as Brass & Woodwind instruments, I also sell guitars, ukes, hi-tech (which includes microphones etc) harmonicas, violins, violas, cellos and double bass's, just to name a few.
Playing a musical instrument is such a rewarding experience and now is a perfect time to 'try something different'.
Personally, I am excited about the imminent arrival of my long awaited tongue drum.

Essential oils have many uses and benefits and I am so fortunate that a couple of our ladies in class a few years back introduced me to doTERRA products.
While I don't often promote the fact that I can in fact sell these magnificent products, I thought it would be appropriate to mention during these highly anxious times that I do have access to these along with many of our friends in class (you can probably smell some of the divine aromas when they walk in).

Recently, I uploaded and shared a free Zumba Kids video. I will re-run that one again soon but in the meantime, I was thrilled to be invited and involved in a Zumba Kids online masterclass showcasing other Zumba Kids instructors from Australia. The cool thing is we got featured all around the world! The organiser of this has promised they will upload this masterclass shortly for another viewing ... I will keep you in the loop as to when that will be scheduled.

Hi everyone... it certainly has been a long time since I have seen you all and I miss everybody greatly. I've had some wonderful messages and conversations over the last couple of months and don't forget we are all only a phone call/message/live chat away. (You all know I love a chat lol).
Who would have thought 2020 would look like this?
I truly hope you are all well and safe and in general 'doing OK'.
This current situation has allowed me to finally get to things I just never have had time to do.
I'm sure many of you can relate to this? Additionally, I have had space to sit back and reflect on what is really important in life. I suppose a life lesson for all has been thrown upon us.
In saying that, I think it's fair to say we have all had to learn how to 'adapt' on a daily level.
'Online' I suppose has given us a 'Lifeline'. I have been exploring a few options for online classes.
Of course there are many platforms out there such as Zoom, Google Hangouts, Houseparty, Snapchat and don't forget an oldie but a goodie... wait for it .... Skype ... lol
Personally, I have been waiting for Zumba to release their own platform which is available to licensed instructors. Its' name is ZIN Studio (ZIN stands for Zumba Instructor Network).
We are so fortunate that Zumba Home Office has established this platform for us. There will be continual upgrades to this platform and the first version release allows me to pre-record classes for you utilising the list of 500 Zumba songs that must only be used on this platform.
From an administrator's perspective, I like the way this platform protects the instructor and their networks. Having said that, in these 'trying' times, technology does have some hiccups so I thank you for your patience in getting this off the ground. Hopefully there will be a live streaming option down the track. I am working on Zumba Fitness classes, Zumba Toning classes, Zumba Gold and Zumba Kids. Additionally, our wonderful instructor Julz, is uploading content for you as well with those details coming very soon.
